DNO - On January 13, Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Pham Duc An met with a delegation from AVSE Global to discuss consulting support for the “Da Nang Breakthrough Development Strategy” project.
At the meeting, the Department of Finance announced that three working sessions had been held to clarify adjustments to Da Nang’s master plan, which aims to develop an ecological, culturally rich, modern, and smart city alongside thriving rural areas.
Da Nang is positioned as a major socio-economic hub of Vietnam and Southeast Asia, a national and regional centre for the marine economy, commerce and finance, science and technology, innovation, tourism, culture, healthcare and education.
The plan also integrates the city's climate resilience and biodiversity protection with a steadfast commitment to national defence and maritime security.
The Department of Construction will oversee the completion of the updated master plan in the near future, obtain professional advice, and anticipate submitting it to the Ministry of Construction in March 2026.
AVSE Global experts shared perspectives on Da Nang’s development vision and growth drivers, discussing dual infrastructure models linking financial centres with free trade zones, the importance of telecom, education and energy infrastructure, lessons from Asian special economic zones, and ways to mobilise finance for green and urban development.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Pham Duc An thanked AVSE Global and said Da Nang values its international expertise as the city pursues a sustainable, climate-adaptive development vision.
He outlined key spatial directions: expanding high-end coastal tourism to the east toward Chu Lai; developing the south around a projected USD 10 billion Chu Lai Airport as a major growth pole; prioritising clean, high-tech industries over polluting sectors; shaping urban growth along a Da Nang - Chu Lai axis with coastal resorts, and protecting western forests while advancing high-tech agriculture and mountain tourism.
He added that Da Nang is strengthening regional links through the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Laos and Northeast Thailand.
