APEC Vietnam International Commercial Arbitration Center opens branch in Da Nang

The event marks an important milestone in APEC Vietnam’s strategy to expand its network and bring arbitration and commercial mediation services closer to businesses in the central region.

Also, the establishment of the branch aims to support Da Nang during its journey of building an International Financial Center and developing digital economy as directed by the National Assembly and the Government.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Director of the municipal Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thanh Hong emphasized that in the context of deep integration, trade and investment transactions are increasingly becoming diverse and complex.

As a result, the demand for a mechanism to resolve disputes quickly, confidentially and in accordance with international practices continues to grow. Arbitration and commercial mediation, he said, are becoming an inevitable trend in major economic and financial centers.

Da Nang is currently an economic locomotive in Central Vietnam and is being oriented to develop into an international financial center under Resolution No. 222/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly. This requires the presence of professional and independent legal institutions capable of supporting businesses and protecting investment activities.

The Da Nang branch of APEC Vietnam was therefore established to expand the Center's operations to the central region, facilitate businesses to access modern dispute resolution methods, and contribute to building a transparent, secure and investor-friendly business environment, he noted.

As part of the event, a seminar introducing the functions and orientation of the new branch was organized.

The seminar served as a comprehensive academic and practical forum, focusing on key issues related to investment attraction, commercial dispute resolution, and the demands of innovation in the digital economy.

Discussions concentrated on various topics, such as mechanisms and policies to attract foreign investment under Resolution No. 222/2025/QH15 on developing the Da Nang International Financial Center; an overview and comparison of methods for resolving international trade disputes; key issues in intellectual property disputes; an analysis of the functions, mandates, and operational model of the APEC Vietnam International Commercial Arbitration Center; and requirements for training and developing high-quality human resources to support digital transformation and digital economy.
