DNO - AirAsia Indonesia is set to open a new international route connecting Denpasar (Bali) with Da Nang (Vietnam) from March 20, 2026, expanding regional travel options and underscoring growing tourism flows in Southeast Asia.
As recently reported by VNA, the low-cost carrier, a subsidiary of AirAsia, noted the Denpasar-Da Nang service will be its seventh international route operating from Bali. Operated exclusively by AirAsia, the new air service is designed to enhance tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two destinations.
The Denpasar-Da Nang route is scheduled to operate four times per week, with one return flight per operating day.
According to Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, the Acting President Director of AirAsia Indonesia, the new service will offer greater flexibility and convenience for travellers moving across the region.
He noted that Vietnam’s addition to AirAsia’s existing destination network from Bali, which already includes routes to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia, will make it easier for passengers to plan multi-destination trips within Southeast Asia.
The Denpasar - Da Nang route will also enhance the connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam, including through fly-thru services to Da Nang from Jakarta and Labuan Bajo on Flores Island in East Nusa Tenggara via Denpasar.
The launch forms part of AirAsia Indonesia’s broader international expansion strategy from Bali. On the same day, March 20, the airline plans to introduce new direct flights from Denpasar to Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne in Australia.
The airline expects that this multi-destination travel model will stimulate cross-border tourism and increase passenger flows between Indonesia, Vietnam and other regional markets.
Tourism data highlight the potential of the new Bali-Da Nang connection. In the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 19 million international visitors, representing a year-on-year increase of about 20.9%.
Arrivals from Southeast Asia rose by 13.8% during the same period. Indonesia, meanwhile, received approximately 13.9 million international visitors, including more than 80,000 from Vietnam, indicating room for further growth in bilateral tourism.
Denpasar’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport remains one of Indonesia’s busiest international gateways, handling more than seven million international passengers in 2025, up 11% from the previous year and marking a record high for Bali’s tourism sector.
