DNO - On August 16, the official contest day of the 25th International Mathematics Competition in Da Nang, Vietnam (VIMC 2025) brought together 560 young talents from 30 countries and territories.
From early morning, hundreds of Vietnamese and foreignstudents gathered at the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology under the University of Da Nang, ready to take on the decisive tests that mark the culmination of months of good preparation and training.
The competition was conducted in accordance with international IMC standards and features two main divisions:
- Elementary Mathematics International Competition 2025 (IMC: EMIC 2025) - Key Stage II Division (Upper Primary Education);
- Invitational World Youth Mathematics Intercity Competition 2025 (IMC: IWYMIC 2025) - Key Stage III Division (Lower Secondary Education).
Both divisions include individual and team contests. All participants are required to compete in both formats, encouraging a well-rounded mathematical experience.
The examination content is selected from proposals submitted by participating countries' academic committees.
The individual round includes two parts: EMIC, which consists of 15 questions worth a total of 150 points, with a 90-minute time limit, and IWYMIC, also comprising 15 questions, totaling 120 points, with 120 minutes allowed.
In the team round, four students collaborate to solve 10 problems within 70 minutes. This round emphasizes tight teamwork and coordination, with a maximum score of 400 points.
Marking, scoring, and result verification are being conducted continuously on August 16 and 17.
The closing and awards ceremonies are scheduled for August 18.
The event underscores Vietnam’s growing role as a host for major international academic competitions and highlights the universal spirit of mathematics as a bridge across cultures.
