22 EU-invested projects registered in Da Nang

DNO - Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong chaired a working session on Thursday with a group of Trade Counselors from the European Union (EU) and EU member states, led by Mr. Ulrich Weigl, Minister Counsellor and Head of Trade at the EU Delegation to Vietnam.

During the meeting, the EU trade counsellors and representatives from EU member states discussed on Da Nang’s policies. The focus was on attracting foreign investment in the city’s key economic sectors; human resource development to meet the needs of industries during economic transition and cooperation opportunities between EU investors and Da Nang; and attracting foreign experts, especially European specialists, in the city’s socio-economic fields.

Vice Chairman Cuong informed that Da Nang has established cooperative relations with 13 localities across nine EU member countries.

Currently, EU has 22 FDI projects registered for investment in Da Nang (outside industrial parks) with a total investment capital of about US$ 53.4 million. These projects have majorly concentrated on processing and manufacturing, services, tourism, and information technology industries.

Da Nang is now investing and implementing many projects in such fields as semiconductor technology, electronic chips, AI, internet of things (IoT), smart urban development, and genetic and stem cell technology. These are fields in which EU countries have a lot of experience.

Particularly for the International Financial Center, in 2025, StartupBlink selected Da Nang as one of 12 outstanding global ecosystems to present their achievements and future development orientations after its impressive 130-place leap in global rankings.

In addition, Da Nang has been recognized as one of the smart cities in Asia as it has maintained its position as Vietnam’s top-ranked locality in ICT readiness and development for 14 consecutive years, and been honored as an outstanding unit in smart city building in Vietnam for five consecutive years.

Vice Chairman Cuong took the opportunity to propose a number of specific contents to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and EU in the coming time.
